The Birth of Oyam Institute of Sciences and Technology (OIST) The birth of the Oyam Institute of Sciences and Technology can be traced back to a profound and life-changing dream experienced by the Managing Director, Eng. Emmanuel Ogwang. In that dream, he was led up a mountain, and along the journey, he was shown countless people suffering in many different ways. There were the wounded, in desperate need of nursing and care.
There were those struggling to repair broken machines, with no one to guide them. He saw families without food, crying out for employment and opportunity. Others were sick, longing for medical treatment they could not access. As he continued to climb toward the top of the mountain, a mighty voice called out his name — three times. When he responded, the voice asked, “Have you seen all those people?” He answered, “Yes, I have seen them.” Then came a command: “Go and do something to solve all their problems.” But after waking up, he ignored the dream, unsure of what to do or how to begin. Two years later, the same dream came again—this time, even more vivid, and more urgent. It was then that he made up his mind to take action. With faith and determination, he took the first step and founded a vocational training institute. At its beginning, the institution was named Oyam College of Health Sciences. As the vision grew and expanded to include more fields, the name was changed to Oyam Institute of Health Sciences and Technology. Later, in 2018, it was officially revised to the name we now know: Oyam Institute of Sciences and Technology (OIST)
